If you want to know the symptoms of tuberculosis then you will come to know that abnormal and unusual weight loss, stress, pain in chest, never ending cough, along with spotting of blood, tiredness, weakness, sweating at night, less appetite and many others, are the common symptoms of this disease. If a person sees any of these symptoms in his body, then he should not ignore them, but should instantly consult a doctor, who will help in the diagnosis of this disease.

To diagnose this disease, commonly three types of tests including blood, imaging and skin, are done and then further treatment is started. Mantoux is the simplest test of skin that is done for tuberculosis diagnosis. In this test, a small amount of purified protein derivative tuberculin is injected and after the time period of 72 hours, the doctor of the patient examines the reaction of this test and if the place, where he has injected PPD has been raised and is hard and red in color, then it means that the result is positive. There are many cases in which blood tests are taken, which tells the doctor that if the disease is active or inactive.
With the help of x-rays, TB is also being accurately diagnosed. After diagnosing the disease, required treatment is given to the patient. If TB is inactive, then a course of an antibiotic medicine is prescribed to the patient for around 12 weeks. The antibiotic is called isoniazid. This medicine is not prescribed to pregnant women. For the treatment of active tuberculosis, along with INH, there are several other drugs, which hare also prescribed to the patients including pyrazinamide, rifampin and ethanmbutol.
